Hello, hola–whoever checks in during these dark times.

If you have a journal and haven’t been using it this is the time. If you don’t have a journal but would like to journal loose pages will do, a roll of paper will do. If you prefer to work on a iPad, Notebook, your phone or laptop, computer… date it and take off.

Some guidelines I came up for myself since day one–no censorship, don’t worry about spelling, grammar, don’t think about who might find it and read it. These are the times to say what you have to say for posterity’s sake, to remember later…

Thank you Ana Castillo for your magnificent “black dove: mamá, mi’jo and me”. You have begun a stream in me that will lead to so much more reading and learning about my Mexican-American and Mexican heritage, even though I grew up as an anglo/blanco in Los Angeles, without any teachings of all the Mexican history that colored my country. I love your idea of no boundaries!!! I heard Pete Seeger when I was 17 in Pasadena and have believed in no boundaries and pacifism since then–now I am 74 years!

May you be healthy and safe and continue to write. I hope to read more of your writings. May your son prosper. May our dying world learn to come closer each to each other, while we are still here.
