Women Are Not Roses, Poetry (Arte Publico Press; 1994)

This little spoken of book was one of my literary inspirations many many years ago. Castillo began her career seeking to define women in opposition to literary and societal norms. Her genius would lead her later to one of the most important philosophical books on Women of Color: “Massacre of the Dreamers.”
